Cultural Dialogues is an exhibition-visualization of the disconnect between artist and graphic designer. The graphical dialogue is aimed at revealing the theme of belonging to the place where the Daria and Maris (authors of this exhibition were born): indigenous people territories in Russia, Mari El Republic. Daria Nikolaeva and Maria Chetkareva created unique compositions based on the mysterious and unique Mari mythology. Selecting geometric shapes following the psychological characteristics of Mari mythological deities allowed graphic designer Daria Nikolaeva and illustrator Maria Chetkareva to combine different types of art on one medium in a singular space. Liminal motifs are also observed in the final compositions and the approach to building poster designs using graphic design methodology in a combination with the fine art vision.
