installation: us-ru_flag
The Immigrant’s liminal space flag was part of the exhibition in Stone Gallery, Boston. This flag represents the blur of values, morals, and beliefs that appear in one’s mind. Many people can relate to this threshold but the unique content of the flag and type treatment makes it very specific, yet, accessible to interpret.
Characters from two languages (alphabets) expand communication power of each language. Each character represents a sound and a visual in two different alphabets. Ideas of my liminal space and experiences helped me to analyze similar symbols of two different origins: Latin and Greek and find a core connect between them, which allowed me to convey a message to the audience.
