8 graphic designers shared their design statements with me with a sample of their work and projects that inspired them. My idea was to unify their inspirations and works into one newsprint magazine. Grid was the engine for this project. I’ve based it on data about participating designers. Everything I knew about them: from the number of images submitted to their birth date—became the variables for the formula. I was playing with a mathematical approach to build the publication which would work regardlessly to the page arrangement. The Inspirations Catalogue can be approached in portrait or landscape orientation, backwards, pages work together as a magazine or individually as a newspaper focused each designer. They fold in multiple ways, and unfold to unpack individual stories. Each “chapter” transforms into a beautiful poster.
